Bank – Casual Support Workers (Yate) Yate, Gloucestershire

Job title: Bank – Casual Support Workers (Yate)

Company: Milestones Trust

Job description: Both of the services are learning disability services located in Yate. At The Chestnuts the team support six individuals to access their community, to pursue their hobbies and to engage in activities of interest to them including shopping, swimming, social clubs, going out for lunch, to pubs and local parks, bike riding and even working at a farm!

Mayo House is an exciting and innovative home where the team work with people with learning disabilities and complex mental health needs, in a person-centred and individual way. Service users enjoy comfortable living areas in which to socialise and relax, with many other healthcare and lifestyle options made available as part of the service.

By joining our Bank team, you’ll have the opportunity to use your skills and experience in a way that truly makes a positive difference to the lives of the people we support.

We also understand that people want casual work for a variety of reasons, whether that’s to supplement a part-time job or study elsewhere, or as part of juggling child-care. We can offer shifts every day of the week, and usually at times which will fit in with your busy schedule – the same reason we interview every fortnight (which means you won’t be kept hanging around if you are shortlisted, plus if you can’t make one interview date there is another along really quickly).

We offer induction shifts in a named home, full medication competency, cutting edge e-assessments, paid training sessions and an extremely competitive hourly rate – including extra pay for sleep-ins. Almost 90% of our services are rated Good or Outstanding by CQC, so you can be confident you will be working alongside some of the best teams in the West!

There really is nothing casual about our approach to casual staff; we know our casual staff are some of the most skilled and hardest working people on our team. It is varied work, and requires someone who not only has experience but can build relationships quickly and effectively.

To apply you will:

  • Have at least 6 months’ experience as a Support Worker / Care Assistant or the equivalent in a similar setting
  • Have strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with team members, the people we support and a range of stakeholders
  • Be kind and caring, have a proactive attitude and willingness to be flexible and adaptable
  • Be able to work on your own and as part of a team
  • Be willing to learn and committed to delivering a high-quality service to the people we support
  • Being a driver is an advantage but not essential for this role

Covid-19 update

The current pandemic has brought restrictions to staff movement to keep staff and the people we support safe. Current Government guidance states that care staff can work at only one setting/location within the Health & Social Care sector. This includes work across different organisations. Therefore, if you are successful you will be allocated to one of our services to work at regularly.

For an informal chat about the role please call Andrea Gonzalez, Bank Staff Manager on 01179 709 377.

*This is an ongoing advert and interviews will be held on an ad-hoc basis until sufficient applications have been received.

Covid19 Update:

Please note: All staff that work or have a professional reason to visit care homes/CQC registered services are required to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19, unless they have evidence that they are medically exempt from the requirement, as set out in DHSC Guidance on mandatory vaccination. This may be a condition of an employment offer.

We continue to deliver safe, high quality care and support in line with Government guidance. More details of our response can be viewed here:
