Prepare and serve all food to ensure a balanced, nutritious diet for all Residents as well as maintaining high standards of hygiene in the kitchen.
Work according to guidance from the Home Manager and as a team with the Registered Nurses to meet the needs and preferences of the Residents. Manage the performance of Kitchen staff
·Manage the performance of Kitchen staff.
·Exercising care and economy in the allocation of use of supplies.
·Co-operating with the care team in responding to Resident’s needs or requests.
·Monitoring supplies to ensure availability and minimize wastage.
·Preparing breakfast, lunch and supper according to the pre set 4 – weekly menus.
·Producing order lists on a weekly basis to ensure that all ingredients are available for next week’s meals.
·Presenting meals attractively.
·Making sure that all ingredients are available for the relief cooks so that standards do not suffer in your absence.
·Monitoring wastage daily and liaising with the Home Manager and Catering Manager to reduce it.
·Keeping the kitchen clean and tidy through the cooking process.
·Monitoring all work equipment on a monthly basis and record.
·Undertaking and allocating to the kitchen assistants daily, weekly and monthly cleaning tasks according to cleaning schedules.
·Rotating stock during each delivery to prevent ingredients becoming out of date and wasted.
·Informing nursing staff of following day’s menu in order for them to offer the choices to the Residents.
·Preparing a third alternative for Residents who do not prefer either of the choices offered.
·Processing and serving soft, semi-soft and liquidized meals separately.
Expected salary: £11 per hour
