Job description: PROJECT MANAGER
We currently have a vacancy for a Project Manager at our sites in Glasgow/Portsmouth (remote at present. As a Project Manager, you will be joining the team at an exciting time as we grow to meet current program needs in the UK and recent export wins including the Hunter Class Frigate for the Australian Navy. The team are currently working across a range of projects some local to Naval Ships and some BAE wide initiatives and we’re looking for Project Managers to deliver these on time and budget. You’ll use your existing Project Management experience and interest in IT to help our business grow and improve. This role will provide you with an opportunity to work with the wider BAE business.
Your main responsibilities as a PROJECT MANAGER will involve:
Producing and obtaining Project Board approval for project definition documentation, ensuring stakeholder buy-in and managing the project in accordance with the agreed methodology.
Planning projects and agreeing plans with the Project Board.
Liaising with associated/related projects.
Building and leading the implementation team, taking responsibility for the day to day running, monitoring and reporting of projects.
Producing the necessary management products and ensuring the appropriate approval of technical and quality products.
Managing project risks and issues, escalating major risks/issues to the Project Board as agreed.
Your skills and qualifications:
Existing Project Manager experience is essential
Experience managing budgets and experience on projects with value up to £500k is preferred
Previous experience working on IT projects is preferred/ or a knowledge of IT from a previous role
APM or Prince 2 qualified required and an IT qualification would be desirable but is not essential.
