Would you like to be part of one of the most complex engineering undertakings ever? BAE SYSTEMS currently has a vacancy for a Senior Engineer- System Engineering to be part of project developing two key products for the DREADNOUGHT programme.

Based at BAE SYSTEMS sites either at Filton, Weymouth, Frimley or Broad Oak (Portsmouth), as a Senior Engineer- System Engineering you will be working on a novel, multi-discipline, multi-subject matter, safety system project. Currently in the concept and definition phase.

This role will provide you with an excellent opportunity to influence the design and operation of the UK’s fleet of submarines, both in-service and future classes.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Engineer- System Engineering will involve:

Authoring System Requirements Specifications and Subsystem Technical Specifications

Participating in trade studies defining key performance requirements

Providing support to Transverse (non-functional) requirement owners, e.g. Safety, Information Assurance, Availability, Reliability, Maintainability and Testability

Liaising with Platform Teams

Involvement in the Technical management of equipment suppliers

Providing support to Verification and Validation activities

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential skills:

Demonstrable experience in systems engineering including design work

Definition of System and Subsystem Requirements

Desirable skills:

Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)

Experience in high availability design practices

Knowledge of Systems lifecycle model and technical artefacts needed for lifecycle reviews

Integrated Combat Systems:

Integrated Combat Systems is part of BAE Systems Submarines. We predominantly supply to the UK MoD but with smaller derivative work done in support of international Customers. Our team is responsible for system design, build and/or procurement of the major electronic and mechanical systems on a submarine, as well as provision of test, integration and support services.
