Wiltshire Health and Care are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Sister/ Charge Nurse to complete our In Patient Management Team through leading a ward team at various locations (Chippenham, Warminster or Savernake).

Working alongside an established Multi-Disciplinary Team, the Senior Sister/ Charge Nurse will hold responsibility for ensuring the delivery of a high standard of care to Patients. Key to this role is effective, supportive management of The Team.

To enable you in this role, you will be a welcomed member to a cohesive team. You will be supported to identify your training needs which will be nurtured in a style to suit your learning, both formal and informal.

Wiltshire Health and Care recognises the need to support and develop Management Staff, and as such, you will be offered peer support sessions with the wider Community In Patient Wards.

The extensive support services will assist you in your understanding of the vast areas your role will encompass, including risk management, HR, infection control, finance and quality improvement.

Our In Patient wards care for patients with a wide range of health needs from Stroke rehabilitation and general medical issues to Trauma & Orthopaedic rehabilitation and Care of the Elderly/ frailty medicine.

Equally, our staff bring a wide mix of skills and competencies, and a key role of the successful candidate will be to ensure staff reach their potential.

About the Job

  • Day to day management responsibility for a ward with our Community Hospitals.
  • Day to day management of Staff within the ward environment.
  • Close working with our discharge teams
  • Interdisciplinary management working with Nursing and Therapy Teams
  • Key player for the introduction of new initiatives within the unit, including technological advances
  • Regular networking and interaction with external services to ensure maintenance of flow of patients throughout the health community
  • First line contact in response to complaints and concerns

About Us

We have three community hospitals, Chippenham Hospital, Warminster Hospital & Savernake Hospital all within the Wiltshire area.

There are two wards at Chippenham Hospital (Mulberry & Cedar), one ward in Warminster Community Hospital and one ward with two units at Savernake Hospital. Peer support is encouraged across each of the Community Sites, and teams work closely together.

Wiltshire Health and Care have a proactive approach to education and development and would support in accessing any learning as appropriate.
