Within our Land division, an exciting opportunity as Weapons Trainer has arisen to play a key role within the Babcock Electro-Mechanical Training Contract (EMTC) at MOD Lyneham. You will deliver expert maintenance training course modules within the Weapons department of the Defence School of Electronic and Mechanical Engineering (DSEME) which is required for trainees in support of the Defence College of Technical Training Electro-Mechanical Training contract (DCTT EMTC).
The wider team deliver in excess of 197,000 training days across 135 different courses and cover a range of technical disciplines from basic engineering hand skills and principles to degree level electronics. The range of vehicles and equipment is vast and complex – Challenger 2, Multi-Launch Rocket Systems and ‘bomb disposal’ robots to electronic counter measures equipment, medical and dental equipment and the fully range of weapons and support vehicles.

As a Weapons trainer you’ll prepare and deliver course modules within the trade training dept., Reviewing course material and content to ensure it is up to date and develop and maintain to support equipment and technology advances. Regularly you will carry out assessment of trainees including creation of written examinations, progress test papers, practical assessments and exam scenarios as well as continuous assessments. Marking of exam papers, setting and invigilation of exams and assessments.
Ensuring student development through monitoring, feedback, discipline and training interventions is key within this role as well as identifying student Development needs and collaborate with the learning support team to aid the learner.

What do I need to do the role?
- Experience on larger Weapons platforms Light Gun, CR2, AS90
- BSC Level 1 Working Safely
- Either BSC Level 2 Supervising Staff Safely OR IOSH Managing Safely
- Completed the full DTTT suite of modules with CoT or CTLLS or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Supervisory experience
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a relevant working environment
